Didier Malige’s impeccable technical skills, innovation and many years of experience have made him one of the most respected and sought-after hairstylists in the industry. His career began in the mid 60’s when, as a teenager, he joined Carita, Paris’s premier salon, as an apprentice. After three years of working alongside the masters of the era, Didier went on to work with Jean Louis David until the 1970’s when he set off to launch his career in New York.
Over the decades, Didier has become known for his collaborations with such iconic photographers as Bruce Weber, Patrick Demarchelier, Helmut Newton, Craig McDean, Arthur Elgort, Inez and Vinoodh, Hans Feurer, Alasdair McLellan, Guy Bourdin, and Willy Vanderperre. His ability to not only style, but flawlessly sculpt both men’s and women’s hair has led him to develop long-standing relationships with the house of Helmut Lang, Jill Sander, Raf Simons and Heidi Silmane. His commercial and runway resume includes the likes of Proenza Schouler, Y-3, Louis Vuitton, Giorgio Armani, YSL and Miu Miu.
Didier’s classical technique and on-the-pulse styling have prompted such magazines as British, French and American Vogue, GQ, Purple, V Magazine, Pop, Harper's Bazaar and Interview to repeatedly enlist his talents for editorials and cover shoots. Armed with a creative intelligence and a nimble pair of hands, Didier is an undisputed master of his craft and especially enjoys collaborating with photographers and editors who allow him the freedom to realize his vision. Didier believes that the biggest compliment he can receive is learning that someone became a hairstylist because they were inspired by his work.
